   ◦    Do I need to know how to dance?
No! You do not need any previous dance experience. If you love music, this is the class for you!  All you need is a fun attitude!  The basics are taught to you.  If you do happen to have dance experience, this is a good way to add newly learned moves and styles to your experience.

    ◦    Who is Lisa?
I am Lisa Brown, a certified fitness instructor with over 20 years experience leading group exercise classes.  My certifications cover most fitness formats; however, I have never seen a format so universally loved like Zumba® Fitness , that is why I have so much passion for it.  I am also trained and certified in first aid and CPR.  I spent the last three years competing in figure (bodybuilding) competitions and I am a former massage therapist as well. I love to dance, and I spent my childhood and teen years in dance training.  I particularly enjoy motivating others and helping them reach their fitness goals.  Will you be next?

    ◦    What kind of workout should I expect?
Zumba® Fitness is a high/low impact cardiovascular fitness class.  Be prepared to sweat, learn new moves and have fun!  You should move at your own pace, and you will get out of the class what you put into it.  The class lasts one hour.  It is intended to be a party-like atmosphere, so unlike a regular fitness class, there is little to no verbal cueing, so watch my arms and body language.  You will begin with a 5-10 minute warm up to get your body for what is to come.  Then you will spend the next 40 minutes moving your body to all types of rhythms.  Finally you will cool down and stretch for the last 10 minutes.

    ◦    What are the benefits of Zumba® Fitness ?
It's fun, and burns approximately 500 calories per hour and it is great cardiovascular exercise with moderate impact.  The music is programmed to go from medium paced to very fast, then back down again making it easy to keep up.  Zumba® Fitness also engages your core (torso) muscles more than some other exercises do, thanks to a lot of waist and hip movement.

    ◦    What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in (workout clothes).  Because you will be twisting, pivoting and sliding, the best shoes for Zumba® Fitness are supportive cross trainer with not much rubber at the bottom.  No bare feet, please.

    ◦    What should I bring?
Lots of water!  Remember to stay hydrated before, during and after class.
A towel!  You will be sweating and having fun!
A friend!  Get friends to come with you to Zumba® Fitness class, this just makes the experience more fun enjoyable and gives you the extra boost to stay motivated and fulfill your fitness goals!

    ◦    I can't get the steps, what should I do?
Don't worry!  This is not a dance contest and no one is judging your skills!  Just make up something else and keep moving.  No one is looking at you, because they are to busy looking at themselves and having fun!  The good news is that after you come to class a few times you will be able to do it without thinking.  Then once you learn the movements, USE YOUR BODY AND FEEL THE MUSIC!  Also, do not get frustrated if your hips and body does not move like mine or someone else's--everyone is different and will move in their own way.
